Doff (Dorothy) has been a resident in Whitby for over 10 years and has experienced the services provided by the NHS bringing this to her role as the Whitby area Representative for the Health Engagement Network.
Until September 2015 she was Chief Officer at the Tees Valley Rural Community Council where the services she brought to the rural areas included a Community Agents project, targeting support to enable people to stay in their own homes and leave hospital earlier. This was jointly funded and supported over 1,000 people during the first two years.
Doff qualified as a teacher of drama and dance and moved to the North East in 1979 to be part of a community arts and theatre project. This work led her to work in East Cleveland where she has been continuously engaged with the Skinningrove Bonfire as a volunteer in a community project for over 35 years. During that time she worked in the South West as an Arts Development Officer returning to live in Whitby.
At present Doff is developing her business as a stained glass artist seeking to give back to the community in ways that draw on her experience and skills.
