Philip is a graduate in Economics and trained with Deloittes as a Chartered Accountant before joining the NHS in his native Sheffield. He held a succession of finance posts culminating in his appointment as one of the youngest directors of finance in the NHS. He was then appointed to various health chief executive posts in Yorkshire and London.
In more recent years as a consultant, he worked extensively with health and local authority teams and the pharmaceutical industry on organisational and community strategies and change management. He also worked with a number of major international IT service and software suppliers on the management of change and organisational transformation through the implementation of modern IT systems in the public sector.
He is a founder trustee of a research charity into health and social care.
In addition to his accountancy qualifications he has a Master’s degree in Developing Professional Practice from Lancaster University and is a qualified senior executive coach/mentor.
He is married with three children and has lived in North Yorkshire for the past 32 years.
